Dean’s Message

In every field of business, we can always manage resources better when we are aware of the relevant concepts and employ the right principles or tools to achieve our stated goals.

But to be a good manager, the question often arises: which is more important—experience or education? While experience can be intense and education abstract, it is important to understand that experience is the learning gained through personal exposure, whereas education is the sum total of all human learning and knowledge.

In practice, experience and education should be seen as two dimensions of the same space of understanding and therefore complementary, each essential in their own independent right.

What you can expect at MASTERs

I have been in the field of education for as long as I can remember, teaching Information Technology at various universities such as the University of Wollongong and Skyline College in the UAE, before moving into teaching and curriculum development in management.

Over the years, we have learned from the learning progress data of students at MASTER that, as much as we strive for a transformational approach, that aim to transform you, the learner, on at various levels, but in reality, about 80% of the learning is transactional in nature. The Learning is delivered through thoroughly prepared structured activities such as case studies, presentations, debates, and more, where the learner interacts and progressively absorbs concepts, tools, and techniques.

However, this is very much in line with the Pareto Principle, or the 80:20 rule. And so a small percentage of deep engagement can often yields the majority of meaningful learning outcomes, which especially the case for Executive MBA for working professionals.
